General
What is DLEAG's mission?

At Developing Leaders through Equity in Athletics for Girls (DLEAG), our mission is to level the playing field in youth sports by championing equal opportunities and accessibility for girls. We are committed to breaking barriers, challenging gender disparities, and building a future where girls have the same access, visibility, and support in sports as boys. Through advocacy, community engagement, and empowering programs, this coed organization strives to foster leadership, build character and confidence, emphasize collaboration, and focus on holistic development both on and off the court, for the future generation of female student athletes.

Are your programs only for girls in sports?

While our main mission is to support and empower girls in sports, our programs are open to boys. We believe in the holistic development of all student athletes, and so we welcome anyone into our programs.

Where are you located?

We are located in Newark, CA and host practices in the Newark/Fremont area (ex. Newark Middle School, Newark Silliman Center, Thornton Middle School, etc.)

What days do you operate?

Each sport program is offered 3 days a week. Basketball operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Volleyball operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Programs
What sports programs are offered?

We offer two different sports programs: Basketball and Volleyball.

What ages can participate?

For both basketball and volleyball, we serve student athletes aged 12-15U. Exceptions may apply depending on the circumstances. Currently, we are trying to build a program for the younger student athletes. More on that soon!

Does my student athlete need prior experience?

No, your student athlete does not need to have prior experience as this is a development league. Our student athletes come from all different experience levels. However, if your student athlete has no experience, we require an evaluation/assessment from them to gauge where they are at in skill level.

How long are your programs?

Our program length depends on gym time and accessibility. On average, they can be anywhere between 8-10 weeks.

What does your program entail?

Our programs focus on the holistic development of your student athlete. Our coaching staff is here to develop their character, build confidence, foster leadership, and enhance their skills. Through individual training and development, team development, and game days, your student athlete will get every opportunity in house. Additionally, they will have mindful sessions where they can learn more about skills applicable to the persona as a whole—building leadership, finding passion, managing and regulating emotions, active listening and communication, etc.
